A Podiatrist in North-America refers to.... a person who has received the degree
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.)
This degree is granted by one of the seven College of Podiatric Medicine in The United States
of America after succesfully completing the four years of schooling.
Usually the graduate would continue to take a one year Rotating Podiatric Residency (RPR)
and or up to a three year Podiatric Surgical Residency (PSR36).
Podiatrists are licensed.... to diagnose and treat foot conditions by medical,
mechanical, electrical, surgical of orthopedic modalities.
However, the main focus is on recognition and prevention of foot ailments particularly in
people with Diabetes and vasvular problems.

Dr. J. Wong-Sing received his Bachelor's of Science Degree at the University of Toronto (www.utoronto.ca/uoft.html) in 1973 and received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1977. He completed his Residency Program at Vancouver General Hospital (www.vanhosp.bc.ca) in 1978 and has been in private practice since.
He has served as Residency Director of Podiatry at Vancouver General Hospital until 1986. He has served and is still active in the British Columbia Association of Podiatrists (BCAP web page under construction) in all capacitates- from being a committee member, secretary, treasurer, to president. Dr.J. Wong-Sing is one of the founding directors of the Canadian Podiatry Education Foundation He is a member of The Canadian Podiatry Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association (www.apma.org)
Dr. J. Wong-Sing's main practice is in the city of Vancouver, B.C. Canada
However he services residents in Chiliwack B.C. Canada
